Having spent much of his time and career working with youths, he continues to walk along life’s journeys with them today. Bringing this strong similar desire to grow the RC community, he wants to do more to remove mental health stigma while encouraging others to seek help and find support. A peer in recovery himself, Nicholas is passionate about creating a safe space for youths to thrive in recovery and resilience. He possesses a Bachelor of Science (Real Estate) degree from NUS and a Masters of Science (International Political Economy) from NTU.
“Films are a powerful medium to communicate positive narratives through meaningful storytelling. I hope that the entries will showcase how young adults can support one another in mental health recovery and build resilience together.”

Speaking about mental health is not easy, and is still sometimes considered a taboo topic. Through this mental health film festival and meeting youths who are keen to have their voices heard, we hope these concerns can be discussed more openly and without discrimination. We can’t wait to watch the short films made by participating youths that will hopefully shine a bigger light on mental health and bring our community closer together on this!
Ms Colyn Chua carries with her over a decade of experience in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) sector. She joined Jardines MINDSET, the Jardine Matheson Group’s CSR programme and registered mental health charity, in 2012 and as the Head of MINDSET, she oversees the organisation and its employee volunteer programme. She practiced as a Medical Social Worker prior to joining MINDSET and recently obtained a Master in Business Administration in pursuit of her passion in the business sector.
Being a strong believer and advocate of social betterment, Colyn feels that everyone should try to be empathetic and put their better foot forward as an easy step to elevate the community. She also believes that more can be done in the areas of mental health and corporate purpose especially in raising awareness, community inclusivity and acceptance, and sustainability. By actively engaging mental health organisations and sharing views and knowledge, she hopes to see a growing number of like-minded advocates in Singapore’s mental health ecosystem.
