The 5th Mental Health Film Festival will centre around the theme of exploring the intricate ecosystem that envelops individuals navigating mental and physical health challenges, as well as their caregivers. It will delve into the perspectives of those supporting or witnessing their loved ones confronting and living with these challenges.

Moreover, the festival will shed light on the crucial aspect of self-care for those navigating this journey alongside their loved ones.

The festival aims to unravel the experience of individuals contending with mental health challenges within the workplace and community. What does this journey look like for them, and what measures can workplaces and communities implement to better prepare for their inclusion and support?

The festival aims to foster a deeper understanding of the multifaceted landscape surrounding mental health, emphasizing the need for collective awareness and proactive measures to create environments that nurture well-being.

FEATURE FILM SHOWCASE: This year, for our 5th edition of the film festival, we’ll be focusing on mental health topics that we believe would be important for the public’s awareness and to have conversations about.

We will screen 6 Feature Films that will be accompanied by panel conversations conducted by mental health professionals & persons with lived experiences. We will also have 2 screenings of the Top 22 Finalists from the SFYC followed by a Q&A session with the youth filmmakers.

Ticketing opens 19 September 2024. 

LADY!

A moving documentary directed by Tan Pei Lin on young-onset dementia and its emotional impact on loved ones. An in-person post-screening chat with the director will follow the screening.

Directed by Maija Hirvonen, "Neurotypes" follows a determined autistic child and her caregiver mother as they challenge norms to promote acceptance and equality. A hybrid post-screening chat with the director, as well as local panellists, will follow the screening.

A thoughtful documentary directed by Kim Hopkins features a group of elderly filmmakers who bond over their common love for the art, their bond transcending love, sickness and even death itself. A hybrid post-screening panel with the director as well a local panellists will follow the screening.
